This 6 week standardized curriculum is based on A Model to Guide Hospice Palliative Care, 2002, specifically the domains of issues associated with illness and bereavement is funded by the Central East LHIN. This course is recommended for all health care providers and hospice palliative care volunteers.
Topics will include:

  1. Introduction to Hospice Palliative Care
  2. Dying, Death and Hospice Palliative Care
  3. Disease Management
  4. Physical Issues
  5. Psychological/Spiritual Issues
  6. Social/Practical Issues
  7. End-of-Life Care and Death Management
  8. Grief, Loss and Managing Occupational Stress
The Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care is a prerequisite course for CAPCE (Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education - for RPNs, RNs, NPs, and other advanced care clinicians).
